Guiros are found in all of the Latin countries. Even though the shapes
and sounds of some of the guiros are different, they all have carved
ridges and grooves. Guiros can be made of metal, but most commonly are
made out of gourds.
Guiro is played by scraping the corrugated surface with a thin stick held in the right hand. Left hand
hold the guiro by placing the thumb into the hole cut which is in the
here to listen to the
sound of a guiro.
