Quica
       quica                          quica

A type of Afro-Brazilian friction drum played with a dampened stick or string attached beneath the drum head. When struck in this fashion the drum makes a sound similar to the lion's roar, which is another name for the quica.

It is a one headed drum with a thin wooden stick through the head. The stick is rubbed with a damp cloth, and the friction activates the head.
